Everyone says ChatGPT edits videos perfectly. Nobody shows you how.
Spoiler: one prompt won't give you a good edit.
My latest videos were edited by ChatGPT: subtitles, sound effects, B roll, all of it. In a few minutes. But behind that there's a full process, not one prompt.
So I packed that process into one skill. You give it videos whose editing you love. The skill studies them and saves the style, then edits your video the same way.
Why you need a process
One prompt is "make it tasty"
Imagine telling a chef: "make it tasty." You'll get something. Probably not what you wanted.
Now hand him the recipe and show him the dish you loved last time. Completely different result.
Typing "edit my video" is the same thing. ChatGPT doesn't know your pace, where to cut, which subtitles, when to drop a sound effect. So it guesses.
A good edit is dozens of small decisions. One prompt can't give them. References can.
What the skill actually does
- References in. You give it 3 to 5 videos whose editing you love.
- Style profile saved. It breaks down the pace, cuts, transitions, sound effects, subtitle style and B roll usage, then saves all of it.
- Your video edited. It transcribes your speech and edits it in the saved style.
The style profile is your recipe card. The chef stops guessing.
What you need before you start
Step by step
Connect Higgsfield and Remotion
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins. Search for Higgsfield, click Connect and sign in with your Higgsfield account.
In the same place, find Remotion and add it. Higgsfield generates, Remotion assembles the edit into the final video.
Install the skill
Download the skill from this page. In ChatGPT, open Plugins → Skills, click + or Create, then Upload from your computer and pick the file.
ChatGPT scans it and adds it to your Skills list. You install it once.
Start it with one command
Open a new chat and type:
/videostyleeditorThe skill starts and asks for your references.
Feed it videos you love
Upload 3 to 5 videos whose editing you love. The skill analyzes them and saves the style: pace, cuts, transitions, sound effects, subtitle style, B roll.
Read what it describes. If it misread something, fix it now. Later is too late.
Upload your video
Upload your raw video. The skill transcribes your speech, picks the cut points and edits it in the saved style, with subtitles, sound effects and B roll.
Review and revise
The first version is a draft. Watch it to the end, note the exact seconds and ask for revisions. Ready prompts are below.
Revisions and mistakes
015 prompts for revisions
Select the text and copy it.
Make the cuts faster in the first 3 seconds. Remove pauses and filler words, keep the energy high, and do not change the rest of the edit.Change the subtitle style: bold font, max 3 words on screen at a time, and highlight the key word of each line in yellow. Keep the timing exactly the same.Add a short whoosh sound effect on every transition. Keep it quieter than my voice so it never covers what I say.Replace the B roll at 00:12 to 00:15. It does not match what I say. Use a close up shot that shows [describe the shot]. Keep the same length.Compare this edit with my reference videos. List 3 places where the pace or style does not match, then fix them.025 mistakes that ruin the edit
- Random references. If you like a video but never noticed its editing, it's not a reference. Pick videos you love for the edit itself.
- Mixed styles. One fast reel plus one slow vlog equals no style. Keep all references in one style.
- A raw video that's too long. Start short, under a minute. Once the style works, go longer.
- Publishing without review. AI makes subtitle mistakes, especially with names and terms. Always watch to the end.
- Vague revisions. "Make it better" doesn't work. Name the second and what to change.
Quick summary
- One prompt won't give you a good edit. You need a process.
- References give ChatGPT the recipe: pace, transitions, sound, subtitles.
- Connect Higgsfield and Remotion, install /videostyleeditor once.
- The first version is a draft. Specific revisions get you to the final.
